Oriental Salad

 (Naomi Minahan sends this recipe that her family calls the ““Wedding Salad”” since she liked it so much, it was served at her wedding.)

1 head cabbage, shredded (no more than 3” long)

½ C. broccoli florets

3-4 green onion, shredded (~2” long)

¼C. sesame seeds

½ C. chopped red peppers (1/4 ”pieces)

 

Combine above ingredients in a large bowl.

3 pkgs. Crushed Ramen noodles

1 pkg. (1¾oz.) slivered almonds

1 C. sunflower seeds

 

Sauté #2 in ¼ C. butter until lightly brown. Reserve in a separate bowl.

 

Dressing:

1 C. olive oil

1 pkg. Ramen noodle flavor pack or 1 t. vegetable soup base

1 T. soy sauce

1 t. black pepper

½ C. secant or 1/3 C. honey

¼ t. oregano

½ C. vinegar

 

Combine all dressing ingredients and shake well

 

Keep #1 and #2 separate until ready to serve. To serve: combine #1 and #2 then toss with the dressing.  (about 16-20 servings)
